Founded in Vallauris in 1953, Isabelle Ferlay (1917-?) and Frédérique Bourguet (1925-1997) began their ceramic workshop in Vallauris and named it “Les Argonautes”, in reference to the famous Greek epic and the adventures of the heroes who left from the island of Iolcos aboard the ship Argo to find the Golden Fleece. We cannot talk about the golden age of ceramics in Vallauris without mentioning the Argonautes workshop.
